  • Others
  • Underwriting – Underwriters identify and estimate the risk of loss from potential insureds by analyzing information in insurance applications to determine if a risk meets the company’s underwriting guidelines. In addition, they determine the appropriate coverages and premiums applicable to the risk.

  • Claims –Claims adjusters conduct investigations to determine if insurance coverage applies.  They also must establish the extent of the covered damage and negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants and attorneys.  Claims supervisors are responsible for reviewing coverage, assigning losses to the adjusters and reviewing their work and performance.

Claims examiners review the claims submitted in order to ensure that proper guidelines have been followed. They assist adjusters with complex and complicated claims.

  • Billing - Billing personnel post payments, review refund checks for authorization to mail and provide quality customer service to incoming calls on a daily basis.

  • Auditing - The audit department analyzes the audit results for compliance with rules and regulations and determines if there will be an additional premium due or return premium owed to the insured.

  • Information Technology – Sophisticated systems deliver everything from accounts and management reports to customer data. Roles within IT include applications developers and programmers, network and software engineers, midrange administrators, systems designers, network administrators, systems operators and systems analysts.

  • Others - Cumberland also employs marketing, human resource, accounting and administrative professionals.
